Congress passed H.R.1865 – Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017 asking website owners to help crackdown on sex trafficking, so we felt this was the perfect time to release a statement on what you can do to help.
If Minnit receives knowledge of sex trafficking taking place on the service, relevant authorities will be notified, as per our Terms of Service. Unfortunately, things get difficult very quick, as people typically use code-words or other ways of hinting about it. So, it is the duty of everyone, not just Minnit Staff, to be on the lookout for anything that may seem suspicious. Even if you think it’s simply a troll, or that you’re misunderstanding, report it anyway — the risk is too great to let it go ignored. You can either report it via https://minnit.chat/support, or via email at info@minnit.chat, with the date, time, timezone, chat, and account(s) you think are involved. Reports will remain confidential whether it’s true or false.
You’ve all known about how to stay safe online. But, by reporting suspected sex trafficking, you can help others stay safe, too. Don’t let a suspicion go unreported.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
