Zero-Click SSO updates: Usernames are now optional

Hello everyone,

We’ve been working on updates to Zero-Click SSO to make it easier to set up.

Zero-Click SSO is the best way to to allow users to join with their existing account data including their username, nickname and profile picture.

We’re happy to announce that usernames are now optional when passing user data using Zero-Click SSO.

This means that the only data you need to pass is a unique identifier for each user.

Many websites collect email addresses only while keeping usernames optional, which meant that Zero-Click SSO was difficult to implement.

Making usernames optional makes Zero-Click SSO much more accessible to many different types of websites, including websites built with WordPress and Wix.

Our WordPress plugin allows you to easily enable Zero-Click SSO by just clicking on a few buttons.

We’ve also updated our plugin and added options to allow you to control which types of user information are sent via SSO:

  • Username (if disabled, users will be required to enter a username)
  • Nickname
  • Email
  • Profile Picture

If you aren’t using WordPress or Wix, you can read more about setting up Zero-Click SSO here.

We’ve also pushed updates to make it easier to test Zero-Click SSO tokens via the Organization Settings page. It will now show detailed errors if the token you’ve provided is invalid.

We’ve also updated our documentation to make it easier to understand how to set things up.

If you’re already using Zero-Click SSO today, nothing changes — it continue to work just as it did before.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to support and we’ll be happy to assist.

Stay tuned for more updates coming later!
