Coming Soon: Headless Chat Client

Hello.

Today, we are announcing a new feature that is in the early stages of development: A Headless Chat Client. This will allow you to build your own frontend client, and have it silently connect in the background to Minnit’s servers. You can use this to build against our product, taking advantage of our features, including SSO integration, scalability, Direct Messaging, moderation, security, and more — all without needing beefy servers or writing backend code on your own.

This feature will be great for situations where you need added flexibility beyond what our standard product offers, but who aren’t ready to fully work on your own in-house chat solution. You can build a frontend as simple, or as complicated, as you like, and dynamically update it in the user’s browser, fully client-sided, as Minnit sends data upstream.

This new client will be separate from our existing API offerings. This will utilize JavaScript’s postMessage to send data from a hidden iframe, pointing to the minnit.chat domain, upstream to your website, fully rendered in the user’s browser. This way, you can build the chatroom of your dreams, but not need to worry about scaling, security, or building out the backend features on your own.

We’ll have more to share in Q1 2025. If you’d like to be part of our upcoming pilot program, contact Minnit directly and we’ll be happy to speak with you.

Happy chatting!
